Re: Book Giveaway: "Patchwork Folk Art" by Janet Bolton
I have been sewing most of my life. I watched my mother make my school clothes. That is how I learned. When I married I did not have a sewing machine. I wanted one so bad I made my first dress sewing on my hands. I designed it also. since I proved I could sew my Husband & I went shopping for a used machine. I put it on lay a way and paid it out. This was in the 50's I made all my children's clothes for school 2 boys & 2girls also their underware. My girls ask me for a long time after they married to make their undies for them, They said the ones I made didn't ride up like the store bought ones.I have never had a sewing lesson I guess I could say I am self taught except for when I watched my Mother. I have had the desire all my life. When I retire I will have more time.I work as a floral designer and I am 70 years young. Thanks for reading my story give sewing a try it's a wonderful thing to learn. Be patient!
