Re: 2011 Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet Fashions
None of the above! Although Catherine Zeta Jones was stunning as usual, my favorite dress of the evening was Olivia Wilde's ("House") gorgeous confection of chocolate brown tulle with cascading gold sequins that were thickly applied at the bodice and began to thin out about 3/4 of the way down the skirt. What in the world was Bonham-Carter thinking???

I vote for #2
posted: 6:33 pm on July 26thAt first glance, my eye went to #1 but the headlines on #2 peaked my interest far more. And, the garment with a girl inside is quite beautiful.
While the details of the garment shown on #3 are interesting the fabric color and type itself are seriously boring. I'm actually very interested in new smocking techniques but this cover wouldn't grab my attention.
Re: The Sewing Machine Serenaded On Screen
Well, call me a little twisted....but how can you forget the Wicked Witch of the East's "sweat shop" sewing scene in "The Wiz"? And oh my...her dress! How could anyone "bring her no bad news" with a skirt that twirls like that!!!

To young budding "designers" who seek a career in fashion or any other art discipline, I say make sure you include a few good business and marketing courses in your educational curriculum. It can make all the difference in developing a realistic perspective on your chosen path and ultimately, your success or failure with any entrepreneurial endeavors.

Anthony's purple/gold/black geometric print and Seth Aaron's whimsical abstraction print were the big winners for me in the fabric competition. Loved them both. Personally, I would have chosen Seth as the winner because although his look is edgy and not for everyone, it was well thought out and beautifully executed with style and polish. I would have sent Mila home before Anthony on this competition. Her print was awkward, oversized, and not well utilized and her design was unwearable. Her esthetic is far more static (read boring) than Anthony's. At least women would look curvy and alluring in his designs! I didn't care for Emilio's jacket because it caused the model's shoulders to droop and look like a linebacker. With a bit of reworking at the shoulder line/sleeve it could be quite nice though. The print was okay but not something I would buy. Don't care for "branding" (who wants to pay to be a billboard for someone else???) and hearts are painfully cliched!

Seth hit the nail on the head...he obviously knows what a little girl would like...,and did a fabulous job for Mom as well! The outfits are crisp, fun and beautifully made. Mila's were also very commercial and would sell well. Easy to wear and relatable. Maya's two little jackets were great and Anthony also did very nice work for the child though would have liked the pretty jacket a bit longer in front for Mom. Jay's fresh color story was a nice surprise and the designs worked beautifully together and looked very hip. He could have easily been the winner, although Seth was my personal choice. Jesse's asymmetric child's dress did not work for me. While I'm a big fan of asymmetric design, this simply made the little girl look disheveled. It's hard enough for a mom to get a child to look pulled together for an occasion without her clothes emphasizing the "tumbled" look. Otherwise, it would have worked nicely and the little red coat was cute. Amy's pants would have made a better skirt and the child's sweater, which looked very "street chic" would not have lasted through a single wash/dry cycle. Not for kids. And would I really want my child to wear a sweater with a torn edge?? mmm..No. The others simply missed the mark on this challenge. But, altogether, the best episode this season.
