Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: A Field Guide to Fabric Design
I would use the design for clothing. What style of garment would depend on the fabric content. I am always looking for abstract designs in the color combinations that I prefer, but most fabric designs I find are too large a print.

I love the jacket with the assymmetrical zipper.
posted: 8:09 am on July 11thI am teaching a couple of teen agers to sew and either the tunic or dress patterns would be great for them since they each just finished their first garment. One girl used a project runway pattern. I would give the tunic and dress patterns to them.
Re: Book Giveaway: "Power Sewing Toolbox 1 and 2" by Sandra Betzina
I love Sandra's books. I still use her instructions for putting in a fly-front zipper.
posted: 6:07 am on June 16thI teach sewing and try to incorporate these extra techniques in to the instructions even when they are not included in the pattern instructions. this would be a great addition to my sewing library.
Re: How to Make a Precision Placket
I have used this placket pattern and it is great. It is the same as in David Coffin's book. However, I did not think about using the steam-a-seam. Great idea.

Thank you Taunton for putting together this DVD.
Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B. Shaeffer
I would like to learn how to make a boned lining for formal wear.

For corners, the instruction was to trim 1/4" from the corner then complete the stitching off of the corner. Do you trim 1/4" at a diagonal from the corner? A picture to illustrate this point would most helpful.

Re: MAGAZINE AND DVD GIVEAWAY: "Teach Yourself to Sew"
