Re: Charles Kleibacker (1921-2010)
I remember going to Frederick & Nelson's in Seattle for a special fashion show of Vogue patterns, with models and everything. It was very exciting--this was probably in the late 60's-early 70's. And Mr. Kleibacker was the MC. Each garment was discussed and his techniques were explained--I remember he talked about gathered skirts and pressing each little fold. Some of the garments were made from polyester jersey (Qiana, maybe?) He made a lasting impression on me when I was really just learning to sew. The garments were so beautifully made and his excitement was contagious. Somewhere, I still have the program from that show. It has been so much fun to read about him in the years since. He truly was a treasure.
