Re: Book Giveaway: Seventeenth-Century Women's Dress Patterns

Wow! This book sounds amazing. It would be a treasure for a hand stitcher like myself! I already recreate heirloom children's clothing, and I am ready to start recreating heirloom adult clothing for my daughter that is grown up now! So many of these heirloom elements are found in today's clothing. I would love to learn these techniques.

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B. Shaeffer

I would love to win this book. I am very interested in bound pockets and button holes. I love all the embellishing techniques that were displayed in the sample pictures of the book.I would also love to learn how to properly fit a pattern to my own shape around the waist/hip area and the bust.

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Underwear Fashion in Detail"

Wow! What an education! That article was very informative. I can't wait to read the book. The changes that I have noticed are the bras. We used to wear no bras or very flimsy ones. Now bras are padded with under wires. There are even bras sewn into camisoles. I like this change. I think it is a good thing to show it off in a beautiful way!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sewing Guide"

Re: Book Giveaway: "Embroidery Companion: Classic Designs for Modern Living" by Alicia Paulson

I love shadow embroidery! It is my favorite type of embroidery because there is so much gratification after you have finished. The colors that show through the back side of the fabric are amazing! I usually use it on children's clothing.

My favorite embroidery to do is shadow embroidery. I love the way the different color threads show through the fabric. My favorite embroidery to admire is gold work embroidery. It is spectacular!

Re: Book Giveaway - Sewing For Children

This little cutie with me in my AVATAR picture is my youngest daughter (child #7). She is three now and is already learning how to sew!! All she needs is fabric scraps and string. She wraps the fabric scraps around the doll and secures it with string. I also bought her a tiny sewing machine which she loves to sew straight lines on scrap fabric. Thanks for this great article on teaching the little ones to sew!!

Re: Skirt & top

I absolutely love this skirt and top.I especially love the bead work. You did a great job.

Re: Ruffled Spring Ensemble

cloudyhn, I didn't get a daughter until child number 5. She is now 12. I didn't get the second daughter until child number 7! She is the daughter pictured. I had her when I was 43! I do love sewing for her. My older daughter sews for herself now. She may post something if she gets it finished in time!
