MORE THAN JUST SEWING - My goal is DIY, make it special and unique ... unikely ready-to-wear products. Another reason is reducing cost. And keep myself up-to-date fashion trends. I love Chanel, Christian Dior, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, LaCoste ...I've never used any pattern and never been through any sewing class but anything can challenge myself to find out how things should be done so it's possible for me to do the same.
I'm glad to share with sewers my work on my own website http://cloudyhn.webs.com where I post my 100% home-made and designed clothes without pattern.

I just took a look back at the issue #150, the main photo for the blouse pattern with inserted stripes was a different shirt. The stripes inserted were flower pattern on red color base. And the shirt posted here which was presented for the Zigzag a constrasting inner collar stand.

I agree the idea that create the stripes for a cool pattern.
posted: 8:07 pm on August 24thBut my first look without reading the instruction, can see right away to stripes were not balanced especially the collar. For me that was a mistake. With this certain pattern I don't buy it, may be I am a picky person, I would use bias cut and use the same stripes and turn the opposite way for left and right shirt to make them balanced like 1,2,3,4 - 4,3,2,1 ... My opionion :)
Re: Help us Choose the Next Cover of Threads Magazine
I like #2. I agree with annelizabeth that garment looks much better and live on the model than on a boring dressform.

Dear Sarah,
posted: 4:10 pm on May 20thI did try to find some apps like these before for my iphone but failed. I got iConvert and iDictionary already. Love high technology. The fabricstash is amazing. There are so many pieces of fabrics I bought long time ago that I could not remember what types, how much I had, sale prices... but right now I have my fabrics sorted by colors and seasons. My stash now is full of 4 2-door storages :)... Well, now I know what I have, whenever I stop by Fabric stores I can take a look at my stash and could find the best piece to match to each other.
This is Great idea and Bravo to high-techno!!!

I'm happy that Seth won this season. Even I did not have chance to watch the whole season but for the last 5 shows he deseved to be a WINNER. I thought we were looking for a potential designer who had a different vision in fashion and created his own product signature. His collection was so stunning. Every single outfit had a strong look, so character and totally runway features. I did not think it had to be wearable. If you walked along Queen Street West or Kenshington Market in downtown Toronto you could see alots of women and young girls wearing kind of the same. Of course they were not even high-end or clean look like Seth collection. For me, I will put on more than half of his collection.
posted: 12:53 pm on April 24thFor Emilio and Mila, their collection had nothing new, which you can see in every shopping malls. But my opinion Mila should be second.

posted: 12:07 pm on April 22ndAmbitious, Your question really brought my memory back. Thanks for reminding me about my early sewing experience. I started sewing for myself at the end of highschool (1987). Just some simple button down shirts, sleeping dresses and pants for myself and my brother; made some hand-embroidered strap bags during my college. There was a gap about 3 years I'd never touch my mom sewing machine. Then when my bank requested wearing uniform (dark blue skirt and white shirt)I started again for my own uniform. Actually I earned some money from my colleages as I was asked to make skirts for them. That was around 1994. There was another big gap here - No sewing at all till 2005 when I moved to Canada and later on my husband brought home a Kenmore sewing machine and a serge for my 34th birthday and Xmas gifts. Caused of everthing here was so expensive compared with prices in Vietnam :) and my custom clothes there, I really went back to sewing.
The interesting was I learned to do think by just seeing how people did it or figured out myself how the item was made, the techniques, the shapes, the color combinations, and fashion trends on some professional website then practise... That's me now as I make clothes, stuff for my house, do some crafts...I cut my hairs and for my family (my husband and my sons never gone to barber's for years) and I do my own nail arts painting...
Thanks again and here is my website where I'm sharing my work

I just finished my Modernized Vietnamese AODAI and about to start another project for Spring - Flower Lattice - Crochet. I saw the lattice during my trip to St. Jacob long time ago. I guessed it was plastic cross-stitch. But I like crochet. I would make the flower tender and softer.
