Re: Finally! Project Runway is Ready to Roll
I'll give it two episodes to persuade me to replace my now deceased DVR. Gretchen's win last season was nothing short of a betrayal of the show's premise. And as I have said before, the lack of time to complete challenges doesn't allow the designers an opportunity to do anything complicated (how much tailoring do we see?) or to demonstrate their problem solving skills. Lifetime seems committed to appealing to the lowest common denominator of the audience, and offering up the worst stereotypes of the fashion industry, hence the emphasis on drama and not the creative process. They are this close to losing this viewer.

Have to agree with the comment about the beige-y dress colors. At least in the photos, most of those women look washed out. And who is styling these women? Julianne Moore's dress would have been better w/o the distraction of that necklace; HBC was clearly channeling her inner Betsey Johnson, but maybe she should have picked just one thing-shoes, dress, or hair, but not all three!

A friend got me hooked on this show a few seasons ago. My biggest complaint about this season has to do with the time allotted to challenges. Most of them had to be completed by midnight of the day in which the challenge was given. Personally I think this biases the competition towards the most efficient sewers, not necessarily the best designers. I doubt Jeffrey would have survived this format. If you want to see talent, give the designers space to execute something stellar, or fix a garment that didn't quite make the translation from page to form.
