I began sewing when my first child was born. I love the creative outlet sewing gives! I put sewing on the back burner when I decided to go to college and pursue a teaching degree. Well, with the children all grown, I can now get back to some me time and have rediscovered how much I love to sew for my home, for myself, and for others! Sewing tools and machines have come a long way and every time I discover something new, I have a new excitement for my craft!

Re: Project Runway 9: "All About Nina"
The coat dress didn't work? I don't know where the judges work, but the first dress is the only one that would work for work, the others--well, I just wonder what type of work they were thinking of!

When I have a UFO in my possession, there is a pretty darn good reason: the cut, fit, style was all wrong for me. When I have the need to finish a small stack of UFOs, typically I refurbish them into something else that I end up LOVING! So, right now I have 2 UFOs. Both are UFOs because the pattern style I had hoped they would work for was totally wrong for me! I typically keep them in my line of vision so that I don't ever forget their presence. One day in the near future I will find the perfect permanent home. :)

wow, that is a great way to save a garment! Would it be possible to see the process of how the binding was attached to the vest?

My current favorite design era is that of the 1940s. Those patterns and styles are so classy! So while I have purchased several (well, okay actually more than several) of those beautiful garment patterns, a designer isn't listed. So, if you know one or several from that era, please let me know! I am always wanting to find new ways to improve my sewing whether it is with embellishements, designer techniques, or with beautiful fabric combinations. I would love to win this book!

Re: Easy and Elegant Linen
My question is one I have had for a while but have not found a clear answer too! When making a lined garment what type of seam finishes are necessary--especially when sewing linen? If it makes a difference, the linen I am working with is dry clean only.
