Princess Allura

This is my granddaughter.  She picked out the material for this costume and I sewed it.  On the mask, I started out with a simple over the eye mask for the form and added the embellishments...

Re: How to Sew a Velvet Frock Coat

Thank you so much for showing us your coat. I made your coat on the Craftsy classes. It was so much easier for me to understand exactly what you were doing now in the pictures.
Kenneth, you are my favorite. I read anything I can get my hands on that you write. I have followed you since your Sandra Betzina days!!! You are the best!

Re: Video: An Expert Tip for Working with Multiple Threads

I guess I am not understanding the difference here. Didn't you double back the three threads to make six? Is it the lip balm that is making the difference?

Re: Classical Ballet Tutu - Sugar Plum Fairy - Nutcracker Ballet

This is exquisite! Nothing else needs said.

Re: Win a Copy of the All-New The Couture Skirt Book & DVD Set

I am trying to learn Couture Sewing on my own. I just finished my first project, a lovely jacket. I have material left over and would love to make a couture skirt to match. My nose is always in a sewing book and would love to add this to my library. Thank you so much for the chance to win.

Re: Enter Our Three-Book Giveaway!

I have sewn for 45 years. My children can't even sew on a button. I called my daughter this morning to discuss Christmas and when we were getting together. They live out of town. I heard my son-in-law yelling in the back ground. Tell Mom I need two shirts hemmed! Oh it makes a mother feel loved and needed! Especially from a son-in-law!

Re: Hand Painted - Hand Embroidered Tangled Rapunzel Costume

WOW! You did a beautiful job! This is very impressive!

Re: Attend The Sewing Party

Oh I woould love ti win this! None of my friends or anyone I work with sew! It would be so much fun to talk with others who have my passion!!! Thank you for the chance to win! Cindy

Re: Enter the 2014 National Sewing Month Giveaway

I am making a new coat following Kenneth King's tutorial for the fly front coat. I just started and I had better hurry. It is really cold in Ohio today. Threads magazine is my right hand. I refer to it constantly and always have an issue with me. I rotate them out and reread the oldy but goody back issues. I just can't get enough of them.

Re: Huge Handbags Giveaway!

I love to sew bags, I don't know which I would try first, but would get to them all eventually. Thank you for the chance to win!

Re: How to Finish Seams on Chantilly Lace

Beautiful solution!! We can always count on Susan.

Re: Video: Use Elastic to Space Buttons

I actually like this tip and think it would be easy and simple. Can't wait to try it on my next button project. Thank you for sharing it!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Threads Sew Smarter, Better & Faster"

Sew when you are lonely, sew when you are depressed, sew when you are unhappy. Sewing helps take your mind off of your problems. It gives you a break from the world.

Re: Clean-Finish a Curved Shirttail Hem

Thank You!! I am printing this out right now! This is a really great tip for a professional looking finish. I love it. Cindy

Re: Combine Topstitching and Binding for an Elegant Seam Finish

Hi Susan,

This is beautiful!! I am making a coat with no lining and using the Hong Kong finish on the seams. It says to lightly sew the seams to the jacket to keep them from flopping around. Just as you say it will! I love this idea and will finish with this seam finish. I think it will look great!
Once again, thank you for sharing your techniques, it is sooo appreciated!! Cindy

Re: Under the Gunn, Episode 2: "The Mentor Face Off"

I personally felt that Amy should of been in the running. I thought her dress was very original and I would of bought it. Who I felt was not good enough to be in the competition was Nicholas. A t-shirt made into a dress is nothing new. They have been around for years. I think the mentors made a big mistake. They dismissed Amy's talent due to her age! Big mistake, big big mistake!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Sew Red"

My husband and I are trying to take better care of our health. We have started to bike ride together and we are really enjoying that. We try to watch what we are eating with lots of vegetables and fruit.

Re: Video: How to Bead a Motif Using a Template

This was a wonderful video. I have never done any beading and Judith sure makes me want to give it a try. She does beautiful work and I enjoy all of her videos!

Re: Project Runway Season 12, Episode 4: "Tie the Knot"

I also did not appreciate the gay hoopla. I don't want it shoved down my throat. If you want to be gay, be gay, but don't expect everyone to agree with your way of life. I believe in God's eyes, it is wrong. If you continue to make your political statements on the show, then I will be turning your show off. Please keep it to fashion, that is what I am watching for.
I also feel Sandro's actions where unacceptable and I am glad he is gone. Just lucky he didn't hurt anyone!

Re: Enter to Win an Oliso Pro Smart Iron!

The best tip I can think of is to "USE" your iron. So many young people these days don't even know what an iron is for. Nothing makes a garment look better than a good iron pressing! Cynthia

Re: Show A Little Shoulder

Your dress in gorgeous and it fits like a glove. You have out done yourself for only sewing for a year! Great Job! Wish I could still wear dresses like that! Cindy

Re: Bernina Announces Fabric Design Contest Winners

I don't want to put down anyones work, but I also had the same reaction when I saw the winners. Not my cup of tea either! I was dissapointed and I did not enter the contest, so it wasn't hard feelings.

Re: Fabric Giveaway: Celebrating Grand Central Terminal's 100th year

New York, that would be my dream vacation! Maybe someday! I would love to go to all the fabric and notions shops! I hear there are stores just for buttons! I just can't imagine it! I would love some samples!!!! Thank you for a chance to win! Cynthia

Re: A Beautiful Hem for a Four-Ply Silk Crepe

Oh my gosh! I love this! Thank you so much to Lynda and you Kenneth for sharing. You are my absolute favorite designer. I have been watching you since Sandra Betzina’s television show. I read anything I see connected with you. You have taught me more than you will ever know! You never disappoint!!! Thanks again! Cindy

Re: Book and DVD Giveaway: Claire B. Shaeffer's "Couture Sewing: Tailoring Techniques"

Tailoring, what would I love to learn? Just about everything. I have drooled over lessons and watched every video I can get my hands on. Lessons are always out of the question, a little pricey for me. The tailoring book by Claire Shaeffer would just be perfect. I would love to make a jacket and have never had the nerve to try. This would be just what I need to get me started. I am a self taught seamstress and learned by trial and error. I have passed along my sewing skills to others for many years just so they don't have to go through what I did. There were no videos or books to learn by. Thank you for the chance to win this one technique that has always caught my eye! Cindy

Re: Book Giveaway: Summer Mystery Reading for the Sewing Enthusiast

Oh I am sew excited!! I had no idea there were novel mysteries about sewing!! I eat, sleep and dream about sewing. Please enter me to win. Thank You!! Cindy

Re: How to Make Ribbon Trim

I absolutely love this ribbon embellishment. Kenneth King you are my favorite designer and you have been ever since I saw you many many years ago on a Sandra Betzina sewing show. I also would like to thank you for sharing all of the fabulous information that you find and your many tips and techniques.

Unfortunately, some of us live where this kind of valuable information is not available and again I can't thank you enough for what I have learned from you!!!! Cindy

Re: Project Runway 9: "Off the Track"

I was very appalled at the way Josh acted on the lastest show. The way he treated Becky was very cruel. As far as I am concerned, he needs to be booted off the show. Then to top things off, the judges praised him for his actions. What is going on here. Wake up judges, I could not believe YOUR actions. You think this shows a leader? It does not. What it does show is a person who is very into himself and will never make it to the top. He has an extremely bad attitude and will never be able to run a business. Would you want to work for him? Not a chance. I was very surprised by the judges and maybe they are just so uppity now that they cannot judge real cruelty. Shame on you!

Re: Finally! Project Runway is Ready to Roll

I also have to agree with everyone else. Stop the backstabbing and drama. I want to see professional seamstresses. Get rid of the children who can't behave. Now, What I would also like to see is more of the actual sewing. I have watched this show for years, but I don't really learn anything. I would like to walk away from each episode and want to try a new technique or say WoW I did not know how to do that and it is so easy! We as sewers are always wanting to soak up more knowledge!! Take the winning outfit and show us exactly how it was made! Teach us and many more will be watching! Thank You for listening!

Re: A New Improved Seam Roll

Sorry, I didn't see there was a page two. Thanks so much Kenneth! You are my absolute favorite designer!! Cindy

Re: How to Make a Hat Base

I absolutely loved this article. So informative from start to finish. Eash step had great detail. Well done!! Can't wait to give this a try!!

Re: Project Runway: Season 8 - Finale Part 1

What were the judges thinking when they kept on Gretchen. She should of been kicked off long ago with her attitude. I don't get it. Michael C's outfits were gorgeous and Gretchens looked like K'Mart brands. I know longer feel like the judges are doing a "honest" job. Lets be fair or you will loose your viewers!

Re: A Pin for Every Purpose

This is a great article. I have sewed for years and still read needle info that I did not know. Thank you!

Re: Padded Cord Ties Better Knots

Thank you so much Susan,

I tried making these one time and they just did not turn out nice and neat. Now I will try again using your tips. I am printing out this article to add to my personal notebook. Thanks again, Cindy

Re: Clone Yourself A Dress Form

I made a duct tape dummy with the help of my husband about 10 years ago. We never laughed so hard together! I hooked it to an old cloak tree. It still stands in my sewingroom as good as the day I created her. She is my very best sewing friend. Without her, I was a great seamstress, but nothing ever fit right. She has been the best sewing tool I ever had. Everything fits now, because I can check out the pattern first. If I see problems, I adjust the pattern and then stitch out a muslin. Making the final adjustments. Now it fits me perfectly!! I did not fill mine with foam, I used batting and stuffed it tight. Be sure and try this, you won't be sorry!! Cindy

Re: emerald princess

This is beautiful!! I love the colors!!
