Re: Book Giveaway: "Embroidered Textiles" by Sheila Paine
I'm most drawn to folk-embroidery -- the sort of thing you'd see on ethnic and peasant-style clothing. It's not always the most delicate or fancy, but something about it just cheers me up.

Though I'm not so crazy about the fabric choices shown, the one I'm most drawn to right now is M6280 -- a nice flowing shape for warmer weather and out-of-the ordinary piecing. I'm seeing it in 3 or 4 bright solids instead of prints, or maybe a classic natural linen with black top-stitching to accent to seams.

PattyHayesMurdock beat me with the beeswax tip -- I still use the same lump my great grandmother (who was a tailor back in the day) used. Humble as it is, it's one of my prized sewing possessions and it doesn't leave the sewing room. When I'm sewing somewhere else (and sometimes if I'm just too lazy to get up and get it) I run the thread through the front of my hair and then run it between my fingers a few times instead. (Natalie Chanin calls this "loving" your thread.)

Yes, I would love to win this magazine. (I'm supposed to be on a book/magazine/fabric/yarn diet -- but winning a copy isn't the same thing as buying one, right?)

Oh, yes, I would love to try this out.

I spent all last weekend reorganizing my workroom and found a treasure trove of canvas and embroidery yarn -- winning this book would be serendipity, don't you think?

A good guide to Troubleshooting Your Serger would be very useful -- I love using my serger; hate when it doesn't work right and I can't figure out why/

I've got a project in mind for small lengths of silk I've been accumulating that a rotary cutter would be *very* helpful for.

Whoa -- I could *really* use a bias tape maker for a couple of the projects I have in mind for this fall.
