Re: New Life for Used Sewing Machines

Wonderful organization and idea, thank you!

Re: Handmade Leather Handbag

I would have bought it in a second, beautiful!

Re: School's On for Summer!

OH I want to go...I have paid tuition for my daughter for over 10 years, and now my husband for two...he is graduating in May...this would be my ultimate summer vacation

Re: Project Runway: Season 8 - Finale Part 2

I cant say I was totally surprised but...I didnt find myself thrilled with any of the winners. I think Andy would clearly have done better. In part one I recall he hadnt made any clothes and had only two weeks after recieving all his fabric. I bet that decision cost him. Also i agree with what someone else wrote, did they not hear the negative criticism thrown at Michael? and I hate the underwear shorts period.

I love Andy and I am looking forward to more from him and mondo. dear gretchen...well my feeling is it is not memorable.

And I hated the way they did this last episode. And excuse me, but why was Jessica Simpson a judge? She doesnt come across as fashionable...ever. What is the criteria to judge? I think they really need to make some changes...just dont change Tim Gunn!

Re: Project Runway: Season 8 - Finale Part 1

Love Michael and I hope the best for him, I think his vision is clear he allowed it to be swayed...maturity will change that and I wish him a lifetime of freedom and peace. The draping oye, if only I could do it so easily!

The clear winner? I am going to say Mondo, I could wear any piece although on this 50 year old body, maybe not together...love that finale skirt but dear god no way could I wear that top!! and truthfully I loved the gown, maybe not for me but he has a way of taking this prints and jerseys and making them refreshingly new.

Gretchen, I like some of her stuff because yes I wear that look alot, but...not so much a NYC fashion show is it?

Andy also I believe has amazing techniques, I am afraid his tendency toward theatrics will be his let down...

ok all that being said? I was becoming bored with the show, and someone this collection of designers have renewed my interest, anyone else find that to be true? Not the backstabbing components, it just seems the group had many different techniques and viewpoints..whatever the formula for picking this group they need to keep it up

Re: Share Your Fabric Stash Busting Projects

Christmas gifts! I like to make wallets, pocketbooks/ tote bags and small zippered bags, also dolls/doll clothes, angels, ornaments and the like. I want to embellish some nice store bpught pillowcases this year, waiting on a sale! I am inspired at christmas by the season and my family and friends now expect a made gift. I think this year I am also going to try to make some things for the animals at the shelter.

Re: What's your dream sewing project?

HA...so many dreams, so much proscratination. I have a lovely biege/gray wool and a christine johnson coat pattern that I am probably scared to start more than anything. Thats my dream currently, plan it and do it.

Re: Project Runway -- Welcome to the Circus

Oh my!

I was so looking forward to their designs, and I was incredibly disappointed.

Seth Allen, shesh, even for run way couture...NO! Although I agree with the poster before me, maybe Tim Burton would hire him for his next film which wouldnt be a bad job at all.

Jay, shesh ode to michael jackson ( although I did like the pants his think with accentuating the butt is killing me )

Mila, let me yawn now....

I am sad Anthony left because his personality was the best blast of fresh air. I agree though with the judges, too inexperienced now for a show.

So, I am still feeling emilio will win this, he tailors beautifully and for the most part I really like his clothes and his asthetic. I dont think "smug" prevents anyone from being a good designer, in fact I bet its a prerequisite!

Take care

Re: Spring Sewing Projects - What Do You Plan to Sew?

hello all! I finish my projects with the at lest one seam a night theory. It helped when my daughter moved out, and I have a room to sew in (although I think I rather have her moveback, they grow up too fast!) I plan around a color scheme or style, that way I am excited to see the next piece finished.

Re: American Beauty

Oh thank you for writing about this...I have eight days to get there , lucky for me my daughter works in manhattan so I have a place for us to go next week.

Re: Project Runway Season 7 Opening Night

I LOVE EMILIO SOSA....period, he is going to win. I am also so happy to see anthony back, I think this time around he is going to be stronger. I loved loved that black and white gown of his.

Re: Trimming Tricks

I love my pinking shears, but I also discovered using applique scissors. I can get in fairly close, and stagger the edges well! Thanks for the tips!
