San Francisco, CA, USmember
In the last few years there I have had the opportunity to work as the costume supervisor for main stage theater and dance shows.
Also, recently, I have begun costuming shows independently.
But aside from work/school, I love to sew items for myself.
I love to draw upon all the things that inspire me in life and put it into my designs, filling the gap of what cannot be attained in retail stores.
I generally free cut many of my garments because I am often dissatisfied by pattern selections or am too lazy to deal with the tedious process.
So, I often am learning from my mistakes. Yet, I feel I am learning so much more about my artistic style and using my sewing instincts to get me through the rough spots.
I am young and ready to explore what can come from my visions.

posted: 6:05 pm on March 16thI'm pretty much a self taught seamstress and tend to follow the trial and error process. I recently got a dress form this last year and have finally been able to really start playing with draping. I am still discovering the difference between the fall and movement of the fabric on the form v.s. a real living body.
THIS BOOK WOULD BE SO HELPFUL!! <3

Re: Skirt with Separating Zipper
thanks!
posted: 9:17 pm on February 22ndAnd I bought the zipper at a craft store on Haight St. (yes near the infamous Haight and Ashbury) called Mendel's Far-Out Fabrics (http://www.mendels.com/)
I do not remember the brand I got, but the zipper is fully separating and is 18" long.
This zipper is even double sided (i realized this after buying it) but the skirt was already constructed so I didn't use it for that purpose.
And I sewed the zipper completely on the outside to keep the industrial feel.
Wish I had a little more info.
But def. search for fully separating zippers and hopefully you will find what you need!
