Re: Interview with Designer Joi Mahon and Giveaway

I always get fitting books and take fitting classes because I have so many fitting issues. The bust adjustment is a very common adjustment, as well as height adjustments, but I need a to match the pattern bust point to my body's bust point. I have a square shoulder adjustment as well as too many others to type! I appreciate all the help I can get!

Re: Pattern Giveaway: Simplicity SewStylish 1699

I love the dress! Having princess seams and raglan sleeves is a great idea - it gives us a lot of room for adjustment as well as creativity. (8 - 16)

Re: A Visit With a Savile Row Tailor

What is wrong with the pitch on the sleeve? The plaid looks perfect on the sleeve from the front in the picture. I'd love for this article to have shown the layout of pattern pieces on the fabric. I know there's an old article (or 2) on Threads that explains how to lay pattern pieces out to match plaid fabric, but what is the use of this article? There are a couple of interesting photos here but no explanation at all. Did some of the article get cut off by accident? Because otherwise this makes absolutely no sense at all!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Patternmaking Made Easy," Third Edition by Connie Crawford

I like to sew tops but I would like to sew more dresses. I am impossible to get a decent fit in ready to wear because I have a large bust. Once I started to sew tops, it wasn't possible to put up with the poor quality and lousy fit of ready to wear tops. I have used Connie Crawford patterns and I would love to get her book!

Re: Project Runway All Stars, Episode 4: "Keepin' it Classy"

I really didn't get it. What were the judges thinking? How could Irina's dress end up in the middle? This is the kind of thing that makes you wonder if the judges really do base some of their marks on the designers personality. She so obviously had one of the best creations - if not THE best. Irina and Elena had the best - I really didn't like Christophers design and thought Viktor's was a good 3rd place.

Not sending Jeffrey home seemed ridiculous. They had to put blurs over his model's privates that showed as she walked down the runway! I don't know if this is the same model he made wear a hood over her face as she walked down the runway, but he should not get away with treating his model(s) so badly. I thought he shouldn't have won his season either - he's showing very clearly how little he is capable of.

I was thrilled that they changed the way the regular Project Runway was done so that we could see more of the design details. I was hoping that change would carry over to Project Runway All-Stars.

Re: Project Runway All Stars, Episode 3: "Sip Into Something Sexier"

I really did not like Korto's outfit - with OR without the belt. I agree with the judges about the top 2 but also think Viktor should not have left that flap. Melissa's was definitely a worse design than Jeffrey's - it looked uncomfortable on the model. Jeffrey's looked old-lady-ish and cheap but it was still prettier than Melissa's. When Jeffrey won his season, it was shocking because he was so inconsistent and belligerent. I think there was a question back then that he might have done something close to cheating but it was decided that he did not cheat. I thought Michael Knight should have been the winner in that season. I agree that Jeff needs to go home and get put in his place. I am expecting a lot more and a lot better from all these people. At least all of them there now except for Jeffrey.

Re: Project Runway All Stars, Episode 1: "You Got Punked"

Really was surprised that Debbie Harry thought Elena's design was "punk" - it was an 80's look to me. And also that this beat out Seth Aaron's look?! Not a good start...

Re: Project Runway Season 12, Episode 5: "YOU Choose Your Materials!"

I agree with others that both Sue AND Ken should have been sent home. Of the winning team I really thought that Kate's design was the best. But overall I liked Bradon's design best and was surprised his team didn't win. I guess Alexander's design held them back. I think Kate and Bradon will be there at the end. They've both bveen doing brilliant work!

Re: Enter to Win an Oliso Pro Smart Iron!

My tip is to buy professional iron cleaner for your iron rather than messing around with vinegar or clorox or any homemade iron cleaner. It's well worth spending an extra few dollars if you really love your iron.

Re: Fabric Giveaway: Celebrating Grand Central Terminal's 100th year

I haven't been to the City Quilter but I spent more than a dozen years living in NYC. I only started sewing a lot after moving out. But I'm still a New Yorker and I think the fabric looks brilliant!

Re: Win a Copy of Smart Fitting with Kenneth D. King on DVD

Whoever set up this page did not do their job. The onClick for the Submit button doesn't work. Tried to enter several times like everyone else. Then I tried to figure out why it doesn't work. This is SO disappointing because it was such an exciting possibility. Kenneth King is a rock star!

Re: Enter to Win a One-Year Subscription to Threads!

I love Threads magazine - whenever I get it I read all of it right away! I would love to get a free year of Threads!

Re: Project Runway All Stars Episode 2: "Put On Your Dancing Shoes"

I actually loved Casanova's dress and, having been to Studio 54 myself in the 70's, thought it would be the winner. I could tell the judges were going to pick Uli's dress but I'm not sure what made it "disco" (except as a tribute to Cher's Half Breed days). I agree that Wendy's design wasn't as bad as Andrae's. He should have gone home after being in the bottom twice in a row. Just take the chain off Wendy's look & it was at least wearable. I thought Ivy's design looked cheap and was poorly sewn. I was shocked to see Ivy's dress in the top 3 rather than Emilio's dress - what are these judges thinking?

Re: DVD GIVEAWAY: Industry Insider Techniques with Louise Cutting Volumes 1-4

I would love to be able to take a course from Louise Cutting! I'm something like an advanced beginner I think - I'm always trying to improve my sewing skills. I don't really travel anymore so the DVD set would be the only way for me to learn take a course with Louise Cutting. That would be amazing!

Re: DVD GIVEAWAY: Threads Magazine Archive, 1985-2011

I have almost every single magazine & try searching through them. It is not easy! I end up trying to find the tip online. It would be wonderful to have Threads on searchable cds!

Re: MAGAZINE GIVEAWAY: "Quick Stuff to Sew"

I love making handbags for gifts and I love that hobo bag on the back cover. I also want to make dog coats. It looks like "Quick Stuff to Sew" has some great ideas. I would love to see what's inside!

Re: BOOK GIVEAWAY: "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B. Shaeffer

I would love Claire Schaeffer's new book! I am especially interested in welt pockets and bound buttonholes, but I love learning about all couture techniques. I've been sewing about 15 years now and I am constantly trying to learn and challenge myself. Claire's techniques can certainly be challenging - and they are always worth learning!

Re: Suggest a Designer for the Spotlight

I agree with the person who voted for an in-depth interview with Kenneth King. Christian Siriano is my favorite designer from all the seasons of Project Runway. And I think Connie Crawford is incredible designing for women plus size.

Re: Book Giveaway: Successful Serging

I would love a serger book!
