Re: Patterns for Three Apron Styles

Thanks for the pattern. The way I like to enlarge is go buy white wrapping paper on the roll. The back side has the grid lines. I still have the apron my Grandma made for me when I was young. She was part of the Depression Era so her quilts and things were made from using old clothing.

Re: Project Runway 9: "Off the Track"

I have to say It's getting really bad when even the project runway show starts showing more drama than talent. Are today's designers that bad that they can't compete on a level of talent. Anya's dress was NOT good and if the rules say no help then Anya should be called out on it & quit getting praise. The show seems to be leaning towards unfairness. If I wanted to see immaturity and so much hatefulness could get enough of it from regular tv. Take Project Runway back to the level of dignity of hard GOOD workmanship please!

Re: Singer turns 160 years old

I can remember watching my grandmother sew on her Singer treadle. Their clothes were used to make outfits like my very first apron at the age of 5. I still have it to this day & I'm getting ready to celebrate my 52nd birthday in a couple of weeks. My grandparents survived the great depression & I remember some quilts being made from old wool coats. Today we call it recycling. I still own a singer treadle besides my more up to date machine & wouldn't trade it for the world. It sews denim better than any other machine. I love the 1890 ad picture, what great memories it reminds me of. Would love to have it framed 7 hang in my sewing room.

Re: Project Runway 9: My Pet Project

The bird seed dress was much more creative in the use of the unusual material. Tim's comment at the beginning said judges don't want an outfit made from doggie bed fabric, use your imagination. Somewhere the judges forgot this minor detail. Who would have thought bird seed could be so beautiful? May the show needs to start paying attention to the viewers opinion like America's got talent and combine the overall scores.

Re: Project Runway 9: Come As You Are

I question Anya's truthfulness about her sewing skills. Gut tells me she's not a beginner sewer. Also Nina needs to look at her own hairstyle. It definitely needs updating. If you pay close attention styles are like an orbiting planet... they always come back around. Tim is the only one that has earned my respect. He's truthful but caring.

Re: Giveaway: Simplicity Bias Tape Maker

This would no doubt be a great time-saving tool. I would love to win one to use for my volunteer work with sewmuchcomfort.org

Re: Tapestry and denim jacket

Outstanding! It's nice to see a jacket that is stylish yet wearable to work or just to look good. You would make a great designer for project runway.

Re: *UPDATED* The Latest in Sewing Machines

I'm in search of a new machine. My viking just had to have a new transformer put in.I bought it 3 yrs ago. I heard Brother sewing machines are good (I want a work horse). Does anyone know if the Project Runways are worth it or is it just the hype from the show?
