I'm voting for this dress because you thought outside the box and created your own pattern as well as tackling all those matching stripes. Very good job!

Re: Industry Insider Techniques DVD Giveaway

I made a nightgown out of a lavender lawn fabric and made my own lace insert by using a strip of tulle and backed it with water soluable stabilizer, sewed rows of decorative stitching on it, and added it near the bottom 6" from the hem to create a "Peek-a-boo" effect. I hope to be finished with it soon, but I had to stop and make burp cloths and baby bibs for my brand new grandson!

Re: Book Giveaway: Hand-Stitched Home - Signed by Susan Beal

I want it! I need it! I've got to have it!!!!!

Re: Enter the 2014 National Sewing Month Giveaway

I will be sewing A LOT this month! Working on Christmas gifts (don't want to give it away so I'll just say these gifts will enhance someone's kitchen!) as well as some "winter" clothes for Florida (maybe we'll have a whole 3 or 4 days of winter this year -- ha ha!). I HAVE to have a subscription to Threads - - it's my sewing bible!

Re: Huge Handbags Giveaway!

I love making purses! Most of mine are like the Vera Bradley styles. Everytime I make one I have to make 5 alike for all my lady relatives!

Re: Christine Haynes Pattern and Book Giveaway

I love the vintage Emery Dress, but I no longer have the figure for it, so I will choose my second love - the Derby dress! I already have a detachable collar pattern.

Re: June 2014 Expert Chat Schedule

Hi Mary! I made your scrap lace blouse featured in Thread's #169 (Nov. 2013) and I used a different pattern, Simplicity No. 1620. I wanted to know how close you recommend your machine stitching of the grid. I did 5/8" between the seams and I think this was too wide. I posted the pic as my profile pic here for you to see.

Re: Expert Chat with Louise Cutting has Begun

I have a general sewing question: I've sewn garments for 50 years, yet my side seams pull up at the hem. Any suggestions?

Re: SewStylish Featured Giveaway!

I would love to learn to sew on different fabrics that I have not tried before; I like the challenge! I've always stayed away from knits even though I have a serger, but I hope to conquer my fear of knits and make myself some new clothes.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: "Designer Techniques Vol. 2"

I don't think there's a designer out there that I don't like! Everyone has their own point of view and the designers are able to purport that point of view into beautiful fashion. Chanel is one of my all-time favorites; Alexander McQueen, YSL, Givincy, Valentino, to name a few.

Re: The Bag-Lady Giveaway: Four handbag books and a quilted bag to carry them all!

I would love to win this! I have more purses than most women have shoes! ha ha! I just made myself a couple of purses and this pattern looks even better than the ones I made!

Re: Enter the Teach Yourself to Sew Giveaway Sponsored by Janome

I've been trying to re-teach myself to sew the correct way and break old bad habits; this would be a great refresher for me!

Re: Book Giveaway: "Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing"

I've found a dozen or more old vintage patterns (real ones!) and I would love to have this book to help decipher these relics!

Re: Video: How to Attach Hooks, Eyes & Snaps

I too would like to know how she finishes the back side, and in addition, I would like to see how to cover snaps with fabric - the couture way. Can we see a video on this?
