Re: Project Runway Episode 12 - Who Goes to NY Fashion Week?

Is it me or beside the other complaints...are the models getting a lot more focus, than they used to? They have a show of their own now that follows PR, so....? Also, the show has become a commercial within a commercial...again, maybe it's just me.
On the next note...where's Micheal? Out networking? He's been scarce this season. I'm glad Tim, is still his same charming self, I really enjoy him.
Finally, I liked Gordana's gown. I liked the simplicity of it. I wouldn't have rated it the winner, but I don't think she should've been cut, but I guess they had to narrow it to 3. I think she got stuck on greys or grays...whatever( :) ). I also think that where she's from has a lot to do with her style...simple, subtle, quiet.
I'm just sayin'...

Re: Project Runway Episode 7 - Blue for You

I forgot to ask, how long was the runway segment? I looked for "the answer at the bottom" and couldn't find it.

Re: Project Runway Episode 7 - Blue for You

I don't know why they've shortened the runway segment.I guess it lasts 2.5 to 3 min. max. It seemed longer or more focused, before they changed networks. By the time I try to observe the outfit and who designed it, there's another girl walking and I'm at least 1 outfit & designer behind.
I enjoy seeing the design process, and how they shop, but it seems choppy. ....maybe the commercials are longer & there are more of them??? I realize the show has commercials within as well.
I too, wonder how you come up with an idea, and buy fabric in the amount of time that they seem to be allotted. I don't know, what if they gave the show another 1/2 hr. (I know..in my dreams).Get rid of the model segment that follows PR. ?

Re: Book Giveaway: "Patchwork Folk Art" by Janet Bolton

When my daughter was born (36 yrs. ago), my sister in law made something similar for her. It was the cutest! She put it in a 8"x 10" frame. The picture was a little girl in a garden, with the sun shining at the top and the little girl was in a cute little skirt & top. She had pigtails and was jumping rope among the flowers. The sun, little girl & a kitty were trapunto(sp.?) The other parts were embroidered. It was on a sky blue background. Had a tiny house in the distance and grass & wildflowers spread around. It was just adorable. Years later I asked my sister in law, if she remembered it & what inspired her to make it. She didn't even remember making it!...bummer. Some how in one of many moves, it got lost and I still look for it. The thing is, Janet Bolton's book says, that I can make a folk art picture too! :) Just the little excerpt in your article on "Patchwork Folk Art" has me determined to make a folk art picture for myself.

Re: A Visit to Waechter's Fine Fabrics in Asheville, NC

Talk about a "kid in the candy store!", I'd feel as though, I died and went to Heaven in Waechters shop. It's a good thing that the store isn't close by, although, because of the marvels of technology, I can visit daily. My hope is to plan a trip, just to be in the midst of that wonderland!
WOW!

Re: Pam's Evening Hobo

Marvelous, simply marvelous!

Re: Beach Fantasy Dress

To "seamsright"...Kayla has her own site, www.kaylakennington.com or www.distinctivesewing.com carries her patterns. If you go to her site, she has a list of places where here patterns are available.

Re: Beach Fantasy Dress

Love the dress! Kayla is inspirational. Anyone that wants to awaken their creativity should try a Kayla Kennington pattern.

Re: Recycling and Keeping Fabric Clean

Great minds think alike. ;)

Re: Fashioning Felt Exhibit

Martha Steward just did a tour on her tv show re: Fashioning on Felt. It was really fascinating. I know I can't go to the show, so this was the next best thing. There was a demonstration of the installation of a felt Yurt. The artist showed step by step, how she created her piece. Looks like a great show.
