Re: Circular Ribbon Flower Redux
Beautiful, I thank you, for your clear instructions. I can not wait to try it. You're inspirational, ...thanks again.

The styles were all so different, it was hard to choose just one. I think they all were great, each in it's own style & creativity.

It seemed to me that some of the designers(?) were just NOT that into designing, a really inspiring dress, for a great cause. Especially, after listening to their models stories. I was pretty disappointed with most of the designs. I liked the design of Mila's dress, minus the stars. Janeane and Anna had the absolute worst dresses I've ever seen!!! Where in the world did those ideas come from? Why would Anna put that color & straps on her model? The beige was almost the same color as the models skin tone....and the deflated balloon dress(Janeane) was beyond awful. I know time is of the essence, but sending what's supposed to be a "red carpet" look like that left me feeling a whole lot better about my sewing from a pattern.

Loved Emilio's dress. The judges seem more vibrant, not just going thru the motions,it must be the NY vibe...it suits them. This season is so much better(than last season), in just the first episode. Looks like this is gonna be a really fun season to watch. Yea!

The first episode, was better than all of the last season's shows in my opinion. Looks like they're back where they belong! Yeah.
posted: 9:56 am on January 15thRe: Choose the Winner in the Fancy Fabric Contest
It was difficult to choose since the fabrics, themselves, were in their own individual catagories(in my opinion), even though they were all "fancy". I went with the one, that the fabric and design was what I'd wear, if I had the body for it. ;0 I picked the "Scintillating" dress, especially because of the fabric.

That is just BEAUTIFUL. What workmanship. I can't rave enough, how beautiful that jacket is. All of you should be very proud of what you've accomplished.

I'd LOVE to have the Threads achive DVD's. I hope to get them after Christmas...with my Christmas money(hopefully).

Threads! as usual...you ROCK!!!
Re: Help us choose the next cover of Threads!
Add me to the Threads collector side. I started collecting issues of Threads, even before I got back into sewing. I knew that someday, when I retired, those issues would come in handy. They really have, too.

Re: Project Runway Season 6 Finale - Tim has a meltdown
First...I agree with SOLI, that Gordana was robbed. I think that she has a design quality (if nurtured) of designers of long ago. Not all of the manipulating fabric. Just straight pure design.
posted: 9:06 am on November 23rdAs for the final show, I was at the point that it didn't matter much, who won. I liked Carol Hannah's line, but alas, it wasn't cohesive..."drats". Some of the sweaters in Althea's collection looked like a knitting project gone bad(meoOW). I liked the ideas, of some of her sweaters, just not final execution. Finally, Irina....do any of you remember the words in an OLD song.."black is black"...? The only item I really liked, were the hats.
Overall, this season really lacked spark and OOOOh Wow.
ps
What's up with the fashion(?) editors' bangs. Is it just me?
Re: As a sewist, what are you most thankful for?
FABRIC is the most sewing related item that I'm grateful for. There is a never-ending variety of colors, textures, designs and fibers! I LOVE!!!! fabric. To go into a fabric shop and see all of those marvelous bolts of fabric, is like heaven. I soak all of the colors in through my eyes and absorb the "hand" with my fingers. Even ugly fabric is a sort of "eye candy"....and when I see fabric, that just takes my breath away, with it's color and design, I'm thankful, that I have eyes to see it.
posted: 8:29 am on November 23rdRe: Project Runway Episode 12 - Who Goes to NY Fashion Week?
Is it me or beside the other complaints...are the models getting a lot more focus, than they used to? They have a show of their own now that follows PR, so....? Also, the show has become a commercial within a commercial...again, maybe it's just me.
posted: 8:35 pm on November 10thOn the next note...where's Micheal? Out networking? He's been scarce this season. I'm glad Tim, is still his same charming self, I really enjoy him.
Finally, I liked Gordana's gown. I liked the simplicity of it. I wouldn't have rated it the winner, but I don't think she should've been cut, but I guess they had to narrow it to 3. I think she got stuck on greys or grays...whatever( :) ). I also think that where she's from has a lot to do with her style...simple, subtle, quiet.
I'm just sayin'...
Re: Project Runway Episode 7 - Blue for You
I forgot to ask, how long was the runway segment? I looked for "the answer at the bottom" and couldn't find it.
posted: 12:34 pm on October 6thRe: Project Runway Episode 7 - Blue for You
I don't know why they've shortened the runway segment.I guess it lasts 2.5 to 3 min. max. It seemed longer or more focused, before they changed networks. By the time I try to observe the outfit and who designed it, there's another girl walking and I'm at least 1 outfit & designer behind.
posted: 12:22 pm on October 6thI enjoy seeing the design process, and how they shop, but it seems choppy. ....maybe the commercials are longer & there are more of them??? I realize the show has commercials within as well.
I too, wonder how you come up with an idea, and buy fabric in the amount of time that they seem to be allotted. I don't know, what if they gave the show another 1/2 hr. (I know..in my dreams).Get rid of the model segment that follows PR. ?
Re: Book Giveaway: "Patchwork Folk Art" by Janet Bolton
When my daughter was born (36 yrs. ago), my sister in law made something similar for her. It was the cutest! She put it in a 8"x 10" frame. The picture was a little girl in a garden, with the sun shining at the top and the little girl was in a cute little skirt & top. She had pigtails and was jumping rope among the flowers. The sun, little girl & a kitty were trapunto(sp.?) The other parts were embroidered. It was on a sky blue background. Had a tiny house in the distance and grass & wildflowers spread around. It was just adorable. Years later I asked my sister in law, if she remembered it & what inspired her to make it. She didn't even remember making it!...bummer. Some how in one of many moves, it got lost and I still look for it. The thing is, Janet Bolton's book says, that I can make a folk art picture too! :) Just the little excerpt in your article on "Patchwork Folk Art" has me determined to make a folk art picture for myself.

Talk about a "kid in the candy store!", I'd feel as though, I died and went to Heaven in Waechters shop. It's a good thing that the store isn't close by, although, because of the marvels of technology, I can visit daily. My hope is to plan a trip, just to be in the midst of that wonderland!

Martha Steward just did a tour on her tv show re: Fashioning on Felt. It was really fascinating. I know I can't go to the show, so this was the next best thing. There was a demonstration of the installation of a felt Yurt. The artist showed step by step, how she created her piece. Looks like a great show.
