I have been sewing for over fifty years. Yes, that is dating myself. As many other seamstresses have done, I stated out making clothes for my Barbie Doll's very empty closet. Over the years, I have studied, experimented and taught myself different sewing techniques. Enjoying all kinds of needle work, I find myself combining many of them. I collect patterns for the pure joy of combining them; and draft many of my own. I, too, collect fabric: two closets full of fabric. Bins full of quilting fabric; and more bins full of scraps which come in very handy for many projects. I design, draft, sew for myself, my five children, twenty grandchildren, husband, home, etc. I am a professional registered nurse, photographer. I try to keep my passion for sewing as just that "my passion". I love my Bernina Sewing computer and serger, my knitting machine, and anything else that keeps this passion alive.

Re: The International Textile Expo Hits Las Vegas

I used to live in Las Vegas; and I do so again after being away for ten years. Just a note for those who live in Vegas. There is a fabric store called Heddy's Fabrics that is the absolute best!! Heddy has been in town for over forty years and her clients consist of many from the hotels. If you live in Las Vegas or are visiting sometime and you are a seamstress, you must visit her store. It's on 5411 West Charleston. I don't waste time going anyplace else. Heddy's Fabrics will have just what I need. So, when I can't go to the International Textile Exp, I go to Heddy's. (Wish I could go, though!)

Re: Tapestry and denim jacket

Well, I gotta be honest. The work appears to be very well done. However, I don't see a photo of the inside. In my opinion the lining and its finish is just as important as the fashion fabric finish. If one can wear a jacket inside out and have it look just as good, then it is a great job. Personally, I don't like the combination or colors. But, that's OK. I'm not the one wearing it.

Re: Vintage Wedding gown

I agree with chezshelle. I haven't seen the posts for a while.I wish you had given more details. When you do something you love, for an event you love, inspired by somebody you love, gives us the details. I can't see much from you photo. A really good description would be awesome.

Re: Christening Gowns

I haven't been on to see the posts in a while. Thanks for your comments. I had not even considered using a wedding gown. Thanks, again. photomom
