Re: Book Giveaway and Interview with Shea Henderson

My first project was a one piece, short sleeve culotte outfit. My grandmother sent me to Singer Sewing School when I was 10 and we made the outfit of our choice from a Simplicity pattern. It's tough to say what was the most difficult because we had a teacher guiding us through everything. This project had inset sleeves, a flat bias neckline, invisible zipper, and inseam for the culotte. It came out fabulous and I loved that piece. Black cotton fabric with small colorful polka dots. Thanks so much for the memory.

Re: Industry Insider Techniques DVD Giveaway

I'm sewing a Cynthia Rowley Simplicity peplum tunic and am deciding between 2 bags from the Sew Sweetness Bag of the Month club for my next project.

Re: Two-book Giveaway

I recently learned to sew with knits so right now, that's my favorite fabric to work with. I love the stretch and how it hides so many of my flaws (both on my body and sewing oops).

Re: Book Giveaway: "Handbag Workshop"

Some people are shoe freaks, I'm a purse freak. I can never have enough bags especially when I get to make them to my liking with as many compartments as possible.

Re: Book Giveaway: The Art of the Handbag

The most incredible bag I've ever seen is my grandmother's wedding clutch. She sewed it herself and hand beaded it in an intricate design. I don't use it so I can preserve the delicate work she did. It's stunning.

Re: Simplicity Pattern 1466 Giveaway!

I would like the 20W-28W, please. I'd make B (probably with the short sleeves from the dress) in a green and brown paisley print linen fabric I've been saving for just the right project and D in solid dark brown linen I bought to color block with the print. Very cute pattern.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Patternmaking Made Easy," Third Edition by Connie Crawford

I just started making myself some more fitted dresses since I've lost over 70lbs in the last 1 1/2 years. I'm learning to alter out of necessity so it would be great to learn how to draft my own patterns.

Re: SewStylish Featured Giveaway!

Well, this is pretty appropriate. I just started making skirts for my neighbors daughters. They're having a rough patch so I thought it would be nice if the girls had some new, pretty clothes. I'd love to make a variety of styles for them. Teens can be so cruel.

Re: Enter the Teach Yourself to Sew Giveaway Sponsored by Janome

I can sew a straight line but I want to learn good practices and techniques.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: Threads Issue 168

I am in love with the purple dress that Chita Rivera (Anita) wears during I Want to be in America from West Side Story.

Re: Win a One-Year Threads Insider Membership!

I would really love to win a membership to Threads Insider. I lost my job a long time ago and have become very dependent on my stash of patterns and fabric as well as free online help and information. I read Threads at my library but it would be fantastic to have those tips and inspiration at home on my computer. Thanks so much for the chance to win.

Re: Book and DVD Giveaway: Claire B. Shaeffer's "Couture Sewing: Tailoring Techniques"

I sew a lot of vintage dresses so I'd really like to learn better construction techniques for the underlying structure especially when it comes to boning.

Re: Book Giveaway: "Improv Sewing"

I'd love to use the freeform technique to make some home decor items like curtains and wall art for my daughter and soon-to-be son-law's new home.

Re: Mega Quilt Giveaway

My greatest quilting experience was when I made a quilt for my bff using her mom's recipes printed on fabric from her father's shirts after both parents passed away. I knew her parents and had baked a lot of her mom's recipes so it was a particularly moving experience from choosing the recipes to piecing it together.

Re: Magazine Giveaway: "Threads" Issue #165 (February/March 2013)

I really enjoy combining hand embroidery, beading, and sequins. I like vintage things and enjoy embellishing things I sew.

Re: Win a BERNINA Swag Bag!

I travel by train between my home, my mother, and my older daughter to help out. This bag and all the fabulous goodies would make it so much easier for me to tote my projects around. Thanks for the opportunity!
