You don't even have to tap the foot, just let your foot off the gas and the foot raises, give it gas and the foot lowers. There are lots of good machines, but if they don't have the sensor foot, no way would I change brands. I have the quilt designer for quilting and the SE Limited for embroidery. Started with a Rose, then the D1 and now the great SE Limited.
