Re: Where Do You Most Frequently Shop for Fabric?

I live 7 minutes from a Jo-Ann's which is great if you run out of cobalt blue thread or you need a zipper NOW. But there are not a lot of surprises. I miss the old fabric stores we used to have. Like MargieW. my daughters,a granddaughter and I occasionally make an excursion to the fashion center in downtown Los Angeles. We never miss The Loft which is the outlet for Michael Levine. A whole different experience.

When In was a little girl growing up on a farm in the midwest, my mother heated her flatirons on a wood burning stove. Shirts, dresses, blouses, skirts were always perfectly pressed. I've never been able to match that.

Re: Book Giveaway: "1,000 Clever Sewing Shortcuts & Tips"

Every year I get a small calendar I keep in my sewing desk. I sew for me, family, pets and friends. Clothes, quilts, pillows, mending. Every time I finish a project, I note it on the calendar. My sewing goes in fits and starts so when it seems as though I have accomplished very little, I can look back and see that I actually did quite a bit. Even if it was mending a pair of jeans. Which I'm pretty good at.

Re: Project Runway: Season 8 - Finale Part 2

From someone who believes the last great designer was Levi Strauss, I have to say I love watching Project Runway.
From the Oh My Gosh- how did they do that?! to the train wrecks. It is amazing to me to see the engenuity and creativity of the designers in such a short time. The judging is a mystery to me but who am I? It's a competition, a reality show and a soap opera. As long as I can appreciate it for what it is, I'll keep on watching.
