Re: Starter Machines and Beginning Sewers

I spent a lifetime teaching young children to sew. The thing you always want to remember is that you should NEVER start a young sewer on a machine that does not work properly. Far to many people are afraid to let the youngster try their own machine and give them one that you would not use daily. If taught properly they will not "ruin" a nice machine. It is frustrating enough to learn a new skill without adding a machine that does not work. Somehow I thought that the machine you were featuring was not a toy machine. I guess I missed the description. My experience with toy machines is that they are a plaything and do not sew well. All my beginning students (300 a year) learned on a Bernina. Some were pretty rough on them, but none of them broke a single one.
