Re: A "New Look" for Fall
New Look's designs are youthful and pretty. My only complaint is the lack of large sizes. I'm a no longer slim 50 year old woman. I sew my clothes because so much of the affordable womens sizes available in RTW are frumpy and ill fitting. I'm a wee bit larger than a standard 18 and 18W is too big. I usually start with a pattern size 22 and adjust smaller where needed. New Look just doesn't work for me.

I stopped watching PR too. Way too much drama! I old love to see a bigger emphasis on couture details such as perfect hems, piping in seams, etc. More skill and less backbiting. Maybe if the designers were given more time? The show would appeal to more of those who sew and love fashion and the creative minds behind it.

I don't typically gather with friends to sew but I do enjoy taking classes at a local shop. Our last class focused on a chocolate theme. We machine embroidered digitized chocolate recipes onto linen dish cloths. Every one brought a chocolate dessert or treat to share. All recipes are going to be made into a book. I'm really looking forward to getting hold of that chocolate trifle recipe!

Oddly I have no UFO garments. I work on them from start to finish and enjoy wearing the finished garments. Quilts, afghans, pillows, curtains, are languishing and getting dusty! I haven't given away my knitting needles yet but have switched to crochet as I can use an ergonomic hook holder to make gripping easier. Needlework like cross-stitch and the like is no longer do-able either, those will be purged from my work room soon. MS has left me with clumsy fingers, sewing is still a joy!

I haven't watched the last 2 seasons. I got bored with the snarkiness of the contestants. I do love the creativity and will watch at least the first couple of episodes this season.

Love the oversized collar, and kudos to you for thinking outside the box. I love the colorful buttons closure

Mercury Rising is absolutely stunning, almost other wordly. This gown should be on the red carpet but it would surely outshine the wearer.
