Married southern girl. 67 years old. Two grown sons--both ministers. Nine grandchildren. My best friend happens to be my own sister. I am content with my life and grateful for God's blessings. Love to draw, sew, thrift store shop, read, travel, RV camping, cooking and baking. Enjoy the company of old friends. Good at figuring things out. That comes in handy when my husband and I are doing a project together. Family sewing secret: My mother always used table knives as pattern weights. Didn't even know there was such a thing as a "pattern weight" until I was in my 40s. We always had at least 12 to 16 dinner knives on hand. Love to repurpose common items for different uses.

Re: A New Improved Seam Roll

We had a trip to Lowe's planned for timber to make a raised bed for the garden. Now I will also purchase a length of hardwood hand railing and make myself a seam roll for pressing. Ingenious idea!

Re: As a sewist, what are you most thankful for?

I am most thankful this year for the purchase of a separate bobbin winder. Now I can wind as many bobbins as I want with no interference with my projects. This is a wonderful little invention.

Re: Giveaway: Simplicity Bias Tape Maker

I would love to have this helpful new gadget. It would be my favorite next to my new bobbin winder. Hope I win. Looks like a fun item. I could make bias tape for all those in need of bias tape. I would be like the girl spinning straw into gold. People would come from far and near to gaze upon such a thing!
