From EWE To ME

This is a garment that I sewed in 2006.  It was the toughest outfit that took all of my sewing knowledge and more.  I spent 8 months searching for a mill that would take one of my Columbia Fleeces and have it spun, dyed, and wove into fabric.  From there I spent over 150 hours sewing.  This fabric is not like the wool fabric that you buy from stores because it isnt pressed, which means, I had to go through every block and make sure the plaids were at a 90 degree angle.  The side of the skirt is a hand picked zipper to keep the bulk down and bound button holes. The cuffs of the jacket are actually from the selvege of the fabric to show how it is different from other fabrics.  You can see that the yarn was dyed and then woven because it isnt all the same color.  I decided to put an embroidery on the inside to show that this outfit has a special meaning.  This garment has a special meaning to me bacause it is a very big piece of me and my life.  From EWE to ME!  This outfit took me to the National Make it With Wool Competition in Jan. 2007 where I placed as 1st runner up in the senior division and won the exemplary construction award!  Thanks for reading!
