Quilt Your Stash

Onezie Makeover

Onezie makeover makes the most out of those fabric pieces in your stash.

It is easy to make over a onezie using fabric from you stash. Trace the onezie shoulders and neck line to make a tank type pattern. Cut 2 backs and 2 fronts for a lined top. Sew right sides together leaving one shoulder open for tab on front and back. Lay the top face down and stitch around just below the sleeves. cut off the onezie top with sleeves and fold up tank top. (I serger around the inside of top attached to onezie). Go back to stash for a peice 4ins by 2x the distant around the onezie for a skirt. I serger the bottom and hem. Now gather the skirt. Pin to the onezie with skirt up, right sides together. Zigzag around and trim the ruff edges off. When you drop the skirt in place it will stand out a little and look cute. Lace, ribbons, flowers or buttons can be used to trim. If you go back to your stash and find you have 15 ins. to 20 ins. by 2 to 3 ins.  of fabric, you can make a headband to match. Sew the long fabric into a tube and pull a piece of 10 in long elastic thru. Sew the elastic together and then the fabric folding the raw edges in. Now you can trim to match the onezie. Once you start these little outfits you will want to use up all your stash. Each outfit looks so special and takes so little fabic. Have fun.
