Halloween Costume Contest 2012

Carrot

Front view of Carrot

I created my costume using orange felt with a sheer orange overlay.  I randomly tucked the sheer overlay over the felt and stitched it in lines across both the front and the back pieces to create the “ridges” in a carrot.  The top portion of the carrot is made from two different sized wreath frames that I wired together and then hand stitched the felt and overlay to the frames.  This framework allows the body of the costume to hang freely.  The headpiece is made from a funnel with fabric glued to the outside and ties to hold it around the head.  The top greenery portion fits perfectly into the top of the funnel.   I’m sure I received quite alot of funny looks at the craft store when I was “trying on” the wreath frames to make sure they would fit over my head and then holding the greenery up on top of my head!
