Halloween Costume Contest 2015

Fashionista Loki

This is my take on a Lady Loki out on the town in Midgard. The design, while inspired by Alexandra Byrne’s look for the Avengers film, is my own. No commercial patterns were used and everything was draped.

Taking cues from the original, the design element of interwoven leather pieces are included on the bodice, waistband of the skirt (both front and back), and the right side seam of the skirt. This was achieved by drafting an underlining, pinning it to the form and laying strips of folded leather to place the marks. Each folded piece was sewn individually to the interlining (see detail photo).

The lapels on the jacket were patterned to be asymmetrical in order to balance the same asymmetry found in the skirt.
