The Simplicity Pattern Design Contest deadline is May 12, 2010.
Three lucky people will be selected as winners in Simplicity‘s exciting Inspired by Project Runway Pattern Design Contest and will receive incredible prizes.
Here’s the challenge
You must create one core garment design including up to five variatons. The design should be made in the misses’ size range and be suitable for home sewing. For an official entry form and complete details visit Simplicity.com. All submissions must be postmarked no later than midnight, May 12, 2010.
Three Winners will be selected
The grand prize winner will receive a trip to New York City to visit the Simplicity Creative Group’s offices for meetings with Design and Production staff. The winning original design will be produced by Simplicity and distributed worldwide as an Inspired by Project Runway pattern in the Simplicity Pattern Collection. As if that weren’t enough, the winner will also receive a Brother Project Runway Sewing Machine and a $300 online shopping spree on Simplicity.com. Second and third prize winners will win great prizes as well.

Thank you, that sounds fantastic! I am looking forward to the opportunity. In reviewing the contest rules at Simplicity, I happen to notice that the entry form indicated that the entry package must be postmark no later than May 12, 2010, 12:00PM/ET and received no later than May 17, 2010 by mail. May I ask if the date you have posted August 23, 2010 for all submissions to be extended by Simplicity as well?

Thank you so much for your comment. The date in our post was incorrect, and has been corrected. All submissions must be postmarked no later than midnight ET May 12, 2010 and received no later than May 17, 2010 by mail as indicated in the contest rules.
I have banking career but love fashions and designed by myself half of my closet (and stitched without pattern). I love to participate to the contest but unfortunately it's opened for US residents only (I'm in Canada). I hope there will be others ... and like challenging myself.

I was SO excited to enter this competition. I printed out the entry and was ready to go until I read that it's NOT OPEN TO residents of VERMONT, RHODE ISLAND, or MARYLAND. I live in Vermont. I'm not sure why it's illegal here, but evidently it is. What a drag.
This would have been great to enter. Shame it is only open to the US...
