Can’t seem to find anything to wear to prom? Look in the trash!
High-school student Elizabeth Rasmuson created her prom dress and her date’s vest from Wrigley’s gum wrappers. She got the idea from the duct-tape prom dress craze and used more than 200 wrappers to make her creation. The close ups featured in the video above show off her meticulous placement of the wrappers to create a color-blocked bodice and vest. It’s unclear whether she used a fabric underlining, but she did finish it with a vinyl topcoat to prevent the wrappers from ripping.
Are you making your prom dress this year? Will you be using any unconventional materials or recycling old fabric to do so?
