I had to laugh last night when I opened my home e-mail and saw a message from my father: “Don’t forget about Mother’s Day!” No worries, Dad – I’ve got it covered. I even have the card already. It never hurts to have that little reminder, though!
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9. If you love to sew, have a mom that loves to sew, or if that criteria fits you both, Mother’s Day is a shopping bonanza, with plenty of sales and gift ideas at popular sewing Web sites. Pattern M6905 features a variety of adorable and quick sewing accessories with a pretty and feminine look. I love the many-pocketed apron accented with rickrack and the flower-embellished sewing machine cover in particular.
As Simplicity Patterns says, there’s nothing like a handmade gift that fits her personality to really say “I love you, Mom.” Simplicity is promoting patterns for fashion-conscious moms (check out the chic shrugs and boleros of pattern 2478), ecology-minded moms (the Go Green Pattern Collection) and organized moms (the mug organizers of pattern 2450 are super cute and must be great stash-busters). There are sewing and crafting books and CDs, gorgeous gift wrap, and some of the cutest notions I’ve ever seen – the Tape Measure Buddies. The smiling bumblebee is really sweet. Maybe I’m not quite done shopping for Mom after all…
