I have a stack of quilt tops that I plan to finish and give away or sell. It's just a shame to have spent all this time, money and energy on something nobody is using.

So far I've repurposed a round robin quilt top into a queen size wedding gift, and a watercolor wreath into a baby quilt. I'm going to put the nice ones that I don't want to keep on Etsy, and the "uglies" on freecycle.

You can bet I'll be buying a lot of batting and backing this fall!

I just love circles, all the fun things you can do with them. I have avoided anything with circles because I am not all that adept in cutting them out, even tracing seems like a chore. I do some fashion sewing as well as crafting and quilting. Well, my new toy has just arrived and I need to lock myself in my sewing room with my stash, and have the mailman deliver my new supplies to my sewing room window. It is the Sizzix Big Shot and dies. This little manual, turn the crank gadget like a manual pasta sheet maker or play dough flattener) and with the right dies you can cut out fabric. The possibilities can be endless. There is a special line of the dies for some quilt blocks and there are lots of flowers and shapes for applique. There is an electric version, but for my meager needs I don't see the necessity. I have never done scrapbooking or card making, but now I see a small bit of that world opening up. I just love technology, even without batteries or chargers. I am 60 and still look forward to something new to come along. Not sure if you will actually consider this for any posting, but I just had to share my excitement.

It has been a while since I have sewed for myself, but I'm
going to a wedding in September and need a dress to wear. I went to the fabric store and bought ten patterns on sale which I haven't done for a long time. From one of the dress patterns I intend to make a dress.

A lot of my pants no longer fit me, so I intend making some pants to wear in the Fall. I will also make some blouses and vests to wear with my pants outfit.I'm really anxious to get started.

This latest issue of Threads has inspired me to cut the Vogue 7700 shirt pattern that has been calling from my pattern stash for months. I have a fine Italian cotton, in a subtle gray, navy and burgundy stripe that will be just perfect. I think I'll try the collar stand and cuff treatments with a co-ordinating solid navy.

Donating much of my stash to a hospice thrift shop when the weather gets cooler and paring down what I have been saving before it REALLY gets dated. Then will make new cushion covers for my porch furniture for next year. I use elastic to make removable washable shower-cap style covers that are mitred in the square corners.

After that, purging the winter clothes that are too tight so that just one closet will accommodate ALL my clothing that fits. Simplify and donate is what we Americans need to do to help those who have lost their jobs.

My most recent project has been making a new canopy for the coach built pram we've bought for our two month old granddaughter. The idea being to have it at our house for when she visits, so we can take her for walks. The pavements round here are uneven & often rough, so the buggy wheels get quite a bashing. My husband has been working on the bodywork of the pram, which needed some attention, & now it looks really good.
I unpicked the original canopy to use as a pattern, & bought a remnant in pale cream. As the pram is Navy blue, I wanted a matching fringe in that colour. I didn't want a traditional white bullion type fringe, but decided navy blue bobble fringewould look great. This proved very difficult to find, but I eventually succeeded & am delighted with the finished result.I then made a pram cover & pillow with some remaining fabric, so we're all set for the off & some fine weather!

I have five people cutting and sewing to make my design ideas for "Carmen"- opera costumes, and I usually dont myself-but the thing is I have reasently gotten my new Bernina 830 and are spending my evenings in this hot loveaffair making ruffles for pellerines, collars and whereever I can use it. Slowly learning this machine and the wonders of embroidery. Going into this winter - dont think I will even notice:)

With help from David Page Coffin's shirtmaking book, I'm looking forward to mastering custom shirts for myself and my husband. We are both hard to fit: he is 6'7", 205# with glorious wrap-around arms; I have lots of boob, and after completing a course of prednisone, I know none of my tops will fit. I have some gorgeous silk shirting material in blues and indigos saved for him. And pour moi, a beautiful rayon batik in violet tones and some deep blood red dupioni I'm saving for a nice shirtwaist dress with black french cuffs and collar. I've already made cufflinks for him and myself and a glorious sterling and labradorite necklace with pearl accents. Looks gorgeous draped over my uncut dupioni!

My husband and I have each lost 45+ pounds since last March but don't have money to just go out and replace our clothes so I am planning to downsize as many things as I can. We are still losing (another 50 to go for me), so that's another reason I don't want to just go buy new clothes...even if I could afford it.

I'd love to know if anyone knows good sites or places on this site to find ideas for remodeling clothes to make them smaller and even more stylish!

I have just finished some Amy Butler hourglass pillows.

I plan on sewing a skirt and perhaps some other garments this fall.

Pabeaulieu, I just bought a Sizzix Big Shot, too. I'm a scrapbooker as well as a seamstress.

One thing I just did with the die cutting machine was to cut white knit and white lace fabrics into flower shapes, stack several together and sew them (tacking just the centers) onto a dress for my granddaughter. So adorable!
