Are you a Super Bowl widow?

Years ago a favorite fabric store in my hometown always had a huge event on Super Bowl Sunday. It was great fun but most important: it was a wonderful excuse for the ladies to leave their gentlemen at home and get out of the house on this high holy football Sunday. I just learned that Haberman Fabrics has a similar event and if you’re anywhere in the neighborhood you might want to plan to attend.

14th Annual Haberman Fabrics
Super Bowl Sunday Football Widows Sewing Retreat
February 6, 2011 from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.
It’s a Super-Fun, DIY PARTY at Haberman Fabrics
905 S. Main Street, Royal Oak, Michigan 48067

New and experienced sew-ers of all ages are invited to join the party, laugh with friends, and learn how to make three great sewing projects. Football fans will be home in time for parties and the game. Not a fan? You’ll be set for a creative evening with your new projects.

Meet and learn from Dr. Pamela Benitez, Beaumont Hospital surgeon and specialist in breast cancer treatment and prevention, and Medical Director of the Shades of Pink Foundation.

Enjoy 3 terrific sewing project demos and an all-day sewing clinic. Work on current sewing projects with expert guidance from the staff or start something new. Use Haberman Fabrics’ sewing machines or bring your own. Enjoy light refreshments too!

Advance registration is preferred.  Admission is $25.00 in advance or $35.00 on Sunday, February 6.  One hundred percent of the admission donations support the important work of the Shades of Pink Foundation.

Shades of Pink Foundation provides temporary monetary assistance to breast cancer patients during their time of need. Many women face extra financial burdens during treatment and recovery with issues like insurance payments, food, transportation, childcare, and other essentials of daily life.

For more information and secure registration visit Haberman Fabrics. You can also register by phone at 248-541-0010, on in person at Haberman Fabrics. Haberman Fabrics has free private parking.

Check around "many" fabric stores have awesome sales on that day. Grab a friend and spend the day at the fabric stores, that's where I am on that day.

Sew What Sewing Cafe in Lubbock, Texas is having a Football Widows Superbowl Party on Superbowl Sunday too! There is no admission cost and they are having light refreshments, free demos and door prizes. Sounds like fun and home in time for the big game.

Sounds like fun but actually, I'll be watching the game with one eye and doing something sewing related with the other. Love football.
