New Look for Spring

New Look 6099

Simplicity releases their New Look spring pattern collection.

My favorite, a chic jacket

Pattern 6099 is on my pattern shopping list! It is easy to sew and has a professional and fashionable vibe. This princess seamed, lined jacket has two sleeve choices and an optional lace overlay for the lapel. This is a great style when made in summer-weight wool for the office, cotton poplin paired with jeans for dinner out, or in a cotton/spandex denim for cool and casual weekend days.

“Gotta have” dresses

Pattern 6094 and pattern 6097 are the perfect spring-into-summer dresses. Pattern 6094 is sleeveless or has sweet cap-sleeves. The bodice has princess seams and darts and a shaped waistband. The pleated skirt is full and flirty or slim and feminine. Pattern 6097 is a fashionable faux-wrap dress. Add an optional collar to the v-shape neckline and choose short sleeves or 3/4 length sleeves with a tab and button. Finish off the look with a self-fabric belt to cinch in the waist.

Practical and sweet ensembles

Professional and pretty, pattern 6107 is a skirt and top set. The skirt is a classic straight skirt with two length choices; the top has a shoulder yoke, waist darts and an optional neck tie. Make it sleeveless, with short sleeves, or 3/4 length sleeves with a narrow cuff.

Pattern 6108 is a summery knit-only set. Flattering on many figure types, the A-line skirt sits below the knee and has an elastic waist. The top has three neckline/shoulder variations. Easy to sew, you can make this outfit in just a few hours–stop by the fabric store tonight, and have a new outfit tomorrow!

Pattern 6110 is a casual, leggings and top duo. The elastic-waist, slim leggings are for knit fabrics and the top is appropriate for a wide range of lightweight woven fabrics. The top comes in two lengths and has two sleeve options.

I am pleased to see you are showing the New Look spring patterns in such a positive light. I can draft my own patterns but I like to buy New Look sometimes. This year's are no exception, I like the way New Look fits, they have perfect princess lines and darts for fine tuning the fit, and I like the compliments I get on the styles of my finished garments.
