The Vintage Pattern Selector by Jo Barnfield
The 1940s, all the way!
Have to say I loved the 70"s. Peggy lipton and Mod squad styles.
I vote for the 60's. Color blocked dresses, Twiggy, granny style glasses, peace, love, hippies, woodstock. And of course I grew up in that decade!
The late '20s. Madeleine Vionnet. Art Deco. You couldn't just up and order a cocktail anywhere you pleased, but it's a small price to pay for the clothing and jewelry.
I like the 1920s and the 1930s and the suits of the 1940s.
I absolutely love the glamour of the 1930s, but I also love the tailored look of the 1950s. Looks like a great book--thanks for an awesome giveaway!
1930s-1950s are my favorites!
My favorite decade is torn between late 60s and early 70s.
I love the fashion of the 30s and 40s. I just love the feminine look of everything!
I adore the 1950's. They don't always work with my body type but I love love love.
I like most of the 20th century fashion wise. I love the 1910's through the 1990's. So much variety.
The late 50s- very early 60s. I love the transition from classic straitlaced 50s to Carnaby Street mod.
Late 40s post-war return to glamor!
The '40s and '50s--love the full skirts, fitted bodices.
My favorite period is the 50s and 60s; quite stylish.
The 1950's...love poodle skirts!
I am in love with the 50s!
I am in love with the 50s!
WOW! This would a great win! The 1930-1945 period is my favorite.
I love to watch those old movies from the 1940's; looking at the wardrobes is a treat!
I think I was born in the wrong era of time...I have loved vintage things since I was a small child. I wish we wore more ladies'[ fashions in this era of time...when ladies were thought of as special. I would really love to win this book. I love the looks of the roarin' 20's through the 50's.
I love the 1940's, love watching movies from that Era for Style Inspiration.
I would love to win this book. My favorite era is the '40s, as in the lovely movies of the time!
I like many eras, but perhaps the 50s and early 60s are my favorites.
The design, shape and interesting seams of the 50's early
60's, feminine but not frilly.
Love the 40's look, so many timeless styles.
I love the color blocking of the 60's and the tailored bodice with full skirts of the 50's.
I would give anything for this book, LOL. I cannot choose between the 1950s or the 1940s, way to much to like about both.
Doris Day fashion began in the fifties and continued through the 60's for all businesswomen styles in Europe and North America. It was chic, warm, sensible and long wearing classics that preserved a budget-conscience woman reputation for good judgement and sex appeal. I still love vintage late 50's - early 60's. All these techniques create form fitting durable seams.
My favourite time period for women's clothing spans 1912 - 1923. While it's not really a defined stylistic movement, I love the oriental influence that informed the colours and the elegant lines of the garments from these years!
Retro style is in! I especially love the 50' s stle blouses.
For party wear I love the 20s and 30s. I adore the feminine, sophisticated suits of the 40s and early 60s
jhalliday, My favorite era is Victorian, anything made in the "Gone With The Wind" era is beautiful to me. What a time that must have been to have lived in.
40's & 50's Especially with petticoats
My favorite fashion period is the 1940's. The styles are timeless.
Oooh, that's a toss up between Belle Epoque and the 50's. But really any time period has its place in my heart, for all the variety.
My favorite time period was the 50's! Love the fashion then!
I really like the 60s. And 70s fashion. But ech decade has an element to appreciate!
My fave is the 50s, clothes and accessories.
I love the 1950's fashion and it is also suited for my body shape (pear).
I love the 40's for the style and the 60's for the colors & prints.
The fabric, constructiion and style of the 50s was far superior to the fashion you see on the streets today.
I've been sewing with these patterns since the 60's, when I first learned to sew. Patterns have definitely changed since then!
Flared skirts and a good fit are what I look for - so post-war 40's through 50's abound! When the yardage is limited, I can make do with a 60's a-line dress.
The 1940's are my favorite. Even with clothing rations, women's fashion was so elegant, and so were the uniforms (ex. Mainboucher's uniforms). And of course the New Look in the latter part of the 40's. What a decade of fashion extremes!
