Kwik Sew: 3987 Misses’ Skirt and Hat
Incorporate this playful skirt and hat duo into your wardrobe. The unlined skirt has an elastic waistband and eight panels with gussets, which create a generous hem circumference. The skirt comes in two lengths, with bias-cut gussets for the shorter skirt and on-grain gussets in the longer version. Have fun with the companion lined bucket-style hat. It comes in three sizes and can be made in a variety of fabrics. Our pattern tester believes the skirt would be flattering on many body types, and thought both pieces were fairly quick and easy to sew. All seams match nicely, and pattern instructions and illustrations were accurate and helpful. Suggested fabrics for the skirt include lightweight to heavyweight cottons, jerseys, and rayons. The sample skirt was made in wool and Lycra crepe from Banksville Designer Fabrics.
(Sized Misses’ XS-XL for hips 32.25-47 in.)
Sewing tip: Mark and sew the gussets precisely to the skirt so that all the gussets start atht the same level.
