Eva Dress Patterns: 1929 Ensemble SE20-5955
This ensemble is a reproduction of a vintage McCall’s pattern. The lined dusterstyle coat has a notched collar, narrow sleeves with decorative cuffs, and large patch pockets. The blouson-type blouse has a shaped inset placket, gathers at the neckline, a band at the hemline, and optional long sleeves that gather into narrow cuffs. The paneled A-line skirt has back waist darts, a diagonal side snap closure, and unusual seam placement. There are three kick pleats made with hidden tucks that nestle under the vertical seams. The pattern instructions are well illustrated, however, the construction instructions are not detailed, which is typical of vintage patterns. Use a silk crepe, satin, or chiffon for the blouse, a silk dupioni or wool crepe for the skirt, and a silk twill, tweed coating, or wool broadcloth for the coat.
(Sized 14-46 for busts 32-46 in. and hips 35-49 in.)
Sewing Tip: To ensure that the kick pleat tucks stay in place, sew across the top through all layers.
