Hem a Pleated Skirt
For the best results when hemming a pleated skirt, there are some very important steps you have to take. Get the rundown in this article from Threads #181 (October/November 2015).
If a pleated skirt’s hem allowance is simply turned up and stitched in place, it won’t lie flat. Since the hem allowance’s folds must be oriented in the opposite direction from the rest of the skirt’s folds, hemming a pleated skirt requires preparation. Follow along to learn exactly how to apply this practical technique.
