2-in-1 Suit with Reversible Jacket

Threads #184, April/May 2016

In this article from Threads #184 (April/May 2016), we took a closer look at some of the incredible details on our favorite garment from the 2015 ASG conference.

At Threads, we are always eager to celebrate sewing ingenuity and creativity. During the 2015 American Sewing Guild Conference in San Diego, California, we singled out a winner from the member runway show. It was an Asian-themed suit created by Marge Mitchell. On closer inspection after the show, we found Marge’s outfit contains many thoughtful touches, and a photo or two would never do it justice. We borrowed the suit to share more of its details.

The outfit began as a result of a creative vest and jacket class Marge took with Cheri Dowd, and the jacket is based on an asymmetrical pattern created by Cheri. Marge based the sleeveless top on a personal sloper, and the skirt on Vogue 9928.
