Islander Sewing Systems: Cape Super Express 224
This fully lined, knee-length cape has a 2-inch-wide collar band or a two-piece hood, horizontal arm slots, and angled side-front seams that house hidden inseam pockets. Our tester suggests the arm slots could be low for wearers with short arms, so measure shoulder to elbow and adjust the pattern if necessary. The industry-inspired construction methods, an Islander Sewing Systems hallmark, are efficient and fast. Sewing and pressing steps are grouped. Pay attention to the seam allowances, which vary. Our staff seamstress noted that it is necessary to cut four pocket facings, but the layout only shows two. It is also required to cut two collar pieces on the fold, but the layout only shows one. Select rainproof fabrics to battle the elements, novelty fabrics for eveningwear, or wool tweed or bouclé for warmth.
(Sized S-XL [2-24] for busts 32-48 in. and hips 33-56 in.)
Sewing Tip: Take your time lining up the front darts, a focal point in the design.
