McCall’s 7848
Expanded sizing options make this cozy coat a good choice for a wide range of body types. The pattern includes views for three lengths: above the knee, below the knee, and full length. It is fitted through the waist and flares into an A-line below. It also includes three neckline finishes: collarless, 2-inch stand-up collar, or with a hood. The coat has front and back shoulder princess seams that continue below the waistline seam, inset pockets at the side seams, a center-front separating zipper closure, one-piece sleeves, and a self-fabric belt. It is fully lined and can be made with fur-trimmed hood and cuffs. The illustrations and sewing instructions are correct, and the seams and match points align. Our tester noted there are many pattern pieces and recommended setting up a system to keep track of them. Select midweight coating materials, such as wool tweed, melton, or bouclé.
(Sized Misses’/Miss Petite/Women’s/Women’s Petite 8–24W for busts 31.5–46 in. and hips 33.5–48 in.)
