Tools for smarter sewingComfortable cutting control
Fiskars RazorEdge Fabric Shears for Tabletop Cutting are designed to cut fabric with minimal lifting from the cutting surface. They feature stainless-steel blades that glide through fabric cleanly and handles that are offset from the blades, for more comfortable and accurate cutting. The shears are available in 5-inch, 8-inch, and 9-inch total length models. Larger handle loops on the 8-inch and 9-inch models provide extra room for fingers. Also available are the 8-inch RazorEdge Easy Action Fabric Shears for Tabletop Cutting, with a comfortable, contoured handle, easy-open thumb lock, and spring-action design that gently opens the blades after each cut to reduce hand fatigue.

Marbling made better
Marbling creates beautiful and colorful patterns, but the paints and marbling medium can be difficult for beginners to control. Jacquard has revamped its classic paper and fabric Marbling Kit and Marbling Class Pack with improved paint formulations, more thorough instructions, a new color, and a synthetic gall additive that enables greater control of color spreading and special effects. The new formula produces finer marbling lines for better results, according to the maker. The reformulation also eliminates the problem of colors blending and ensures that all colors spread equally on the marbling surface. The Marbling Kit includes 0.5-ounce bottles in six colors, synthetic gall additive, alum, and carrageenan. The Marbling Class Pack (shown) includes 2.0-ounce bottles in nine colors, synthetic gall, alum, carrageenan, 2 yards of cotton fabric, and 10 droppers.
