As the spring styles are rolling out, I can’t help noticing a number of gorgeous two-piece patterns, many of which are available in extended sizing. With the release of KnowMe patterns and with extended sizing in new spring lines, McCall’s offers lots of appealing options.

KnowMe Patterns 2022: Misses’ Top and Skirt by The Corny Rainbow

This jaw-dropping crop top and skirt set from Nefertiti Griggs (aka @thecornyrainbow) is a must-make for spring. Long-sleeve tops feature a cut-out neckline with a 2-inch buckle at the center front, and full sleeves with the option of multiple rows of elastic cinching. Skirts come in two lengths with asymmetric flounces at front and back and an invisible side zipper. This sporty set for knits has an athletic crop top in two styles. One has shoulder straps and a twisted front detail; the other is a high-neck top with a small, semicircular cutout at center front. Pull-on bell-bottoms have a deep yoke waistband with two options: one piece with knot detail in front, and multi-seamed in front and back. Friday Pattern Company Saturday Set 

The Saturday skirt set consists of a front-tie top and midi skirt that are taking Instagram by storm. Both pieces are easy-to-sew designs. Friday Pattern Company Saguaro Set

The Saguaro Set comprises a pullover top with plunging V-neckline and elasticized hem complemented by wide-leg, elasticized-waist pants with drawstring and angled front pockets. Add an optional tie closure to the top’s center front for more modesty. This flowy set is easy to sew and perfect for summer in lightweight wovens. This pattern is super cute and includes a skirt featuring a thigh-high slit and a shirred, off-the-shoulder top. The top can be made with long or short sleeves. Both pieces feature elasticized shirring. The ensemble is an easy sewing project for beginner or intermediate sewists. McCall’s 8362 and 8361

Technically, this shirtdress pattern is not a two-piece set, but I loved it too much to ignore it. The dress has cutouts at the waist with double self ties stabilized by a gathered front band. It is designed with a notched collar and bust darts. The three sleeve styles include short pleated sleeves with elastic at the hems, long two-piece sleeves with buttons at the cuffs, or short sleeves with stitched hems. The skirt has an invisible zipper closure. The pattern is available in women’s sizes 4 to 20 and 20W to 38W (bust 29 1/2 inches to 60 inches, waist 22 inches to 56 1/2 inches, hip 31 1/2 inches to 62 inches).

PatternCos Manola Dress

This relaxed-cut “attached two-piece” midi dress can easily be made shorter or longer. The midriff-baring dress isn’t quite a zero-waste design, but it does minimize fabric waste. It features a tie on the left side that gathers and joins the loose-fitting top and skirt. The dress’s cut-on sleeves extend to the elbows. The pattern is sold in women’s EU sizes 36 to 46 (bust 33 inches to 41  inches, waist 24 to 33 inches, hip 34 1/2 to 42 1/2 inches).
