Classic Midi Skirt
Skill level
Straightforward sewing. Pay attention when making the pleats so you can apply the facing correctly.
Size range and fitting
Sized 34 to 60 for waists 23-5/8 inches to 49-5/8 inches and hips 33-7/8 inches to 59-7/8 inches. The waistline, which sits at the natural waist, is fitted and the rest is comfortably full and swingy.
Fabrics
For the casual version think of denim with topstitched seamlines. Stunning in real or faux leather. Make it in velvet and satin for the holidays. Wool, sturdy linen, pinwale corduroy, or twill will look just as nice.
Style and sewing details
This simple, versatile five-panel, A-line skirt is cleverly designed with side panels that incorporate pockets, and a center-back zipper closure. Pleats are integrated within the side-panel seams in front and back.
• A stylish look for those with a defined waist.
• This pattern contains 14 sizes with plenty of match points. The pattern can be printed in a single size, and that makes it easier to see the notches you need.
• Instructions are accurate but be careful marking the notches and pleat sewing lines. A reference is made to a Resource page on the website, which shows a series of sample garments.
• Along with a range of fabric choices, our tester visualizes this skirt with embellished seams and decorative stitching along the pocket top.
