Joyce Simons Murphy’s JSM Tailoring Tools business is dedicated to helping those who love to tailor and design clothing. She teaches and writes about traditional fitting, alteration and pattern making methods, invents new methods where computer technology makes improvements possible. She also sells hard to find tailoring books, DVDs, sewing notions and pattern making supplies that pertain to tailoring from her web site.
Prior to opening JSM Tailoring Tools, Joyce owned and operated JSM Tailors for 20 years. The shop provided alterations, dressmaking and made-to-measure suits to a select clientele on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
Joyce has a degree in Apparel Design from the School of Apparel Design and Development in Seattle and a degree in Special Education (teaching the deaf) from Michigan State University. She is wild about computers and finds it exhilarating to explore the next new thing.
Joyce is a charter member of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals and a member of the American Sewing Guild.
