12mm zigzag Bernina model?

HoosierMommy | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

I saw some beautiful free motion embroidery on a Celtic dance costume. The lady said it was done with a Bernina commercial zig zag machine with a maximum 12mm width.  Does anyone know what model that would be?

    Hi there,

I don't know of a Bernina model that does a 12mm stitch.  The 1630 and Artista models 185/200 (possibly the 180) will do up to a 9mm stitch.  You can get sideways/multimotion stitches up to I think 45mm wide, though those kind of stitches tend to be done in steps, i.e. I don't think you do for example a satin stitch 45mm wide without the machine doing it in increments of 9mm.  I could be wrong though as I don't have one of these machines (yet!), but I have seen demos of the three models I mentioned.

    Hi,

The machine is a Bernina 217N. It is available as a 6mm/8mm or with a 12mm stitch width.

Here is what it looks like. This one has Adler written on it. But it is definitely a Bernina. I have the same machine. I think some are being marketed under the name Adler. Here goes:

    12mm zigzag bernina Model

The original Bernina 217n is a much loved machine and still being used even after it went out of production more then 15 years ago

I was at they Texprosses show last july in german there i found a company Global international they have reintroduced this machine.

Ussualy reproceds machines dont function well but this is a perfect replica.and all the parts are idential to the original machine.
