I am sewing a short jacket with a collar and want to
eliminate the back seam and add a yoke. Will
this create any problem with the collar? Thank you.

As long as you don't change the neckline, the collar will be fine. Remember when you eliminate the back seam to eliminate the seam allowances also (putting the seamline on the fold).
