ALTERING A BIAS PATTERN

I am making a prom dress for my daughter out of vogue 7267 which is a bias a line very simple design. The hips fit fine, but the bust and waist are about an inch or so too large. I made a muslin and have taken it in on the sides, but it has interfered with the drape and caused pulling across the tummy. She wants the dress to fit snug around the waist area, but I am not sure this is possible with the bias cut. I am not sure what I should do to alter this correctly. Should I take the side seams in, or should I slash the pattern down the middle and adjust it that way. I know that the satin fabric will hang differently than the muslin, but I didn’t want to experiment on the Real fabric until I had the proper fit. Any help is welcome-I have about a week and a half. Sherry, if it is one in the online catalog in 3 views in blue green and gold I assume it is the blue version. as this comes in multi sizing you may need to grade between sizes. As for a tight fit you trade the slink of the bias against a tight fit under normal circumstances. ease it in by pinning, but be aware you will encounter what you already did - stress lines. you have to choose between the two in a single or a 2 piece pattern. the more pieces bias is cut into, the more room for fitting in tighter. If you will look at the old movies of the 30s you will see what I mean. the tighter the fit, the more pieces to construct or stress wrinkles. those are the choices. sorry.
