I haven’t sewn leather before but I have a lovely thrifted jacket  which fits everywhere except the sleeves.  They are too long by about two inches.  The sleeves are finished with a wide sleeve band which is not a cuff, just a continuation of the sleeve with a welt join. I plan to remove it then shorten the sleeve above it before rejoining.  There is topstitching and a lining, to complicate things!  Any hints for needle, thread, etc please?
