There have been a couple of really good articles in Threads about grading patterns. I'm afraid I can't remember which issues, but I'm sure someone else will! A very condensed version of one technique is to split a pattern piece, and insert more paper into the gap, then lines need to be trued, sometimes darts relocated, that sort of thing. The articles had great drawings of how to do it, so I'd highly recommend that you try and find them.

My bible is a book called Fit for Real People. A Palmer/Pletsch Publication, distributed by McCalls in Australia. ISBN 0-93578-43-5. For those like myself who are "instruction manual challenged"it has lots of excellent, clear, step by step diagrams and if you HAVE to read the instructions they are easy to understand. They also have another book on fitting pants which is equally as good.
Good luck with it although it's sometimes easier to go and buy a new pattern and start again, especially when they are on sale .
Cheers. Margery
I like the pivot and slide technique in Nancy Zeiman's Fitting Finesse. There is another book on the pivot and slide techique, but I can't remember the author. It is published by SewFit.
I agree. Of all the methods I've seen, hers is the most straight-forward.
