altering too large capris

dregan | Posted in Fitting on

I have been trying to get close to perfect fit clothes by being scanned by UniquePatterns in Oct. 2002, I believe.  I have 3 patterns that if they fit this time, they will redo and send me other patterns I’ve ordered.  I’m so frustrated because again this pant pattern is too big- this one was suppose to work. I am in pain all the time, and unable to sit on my right buttock, so when I do sew, I hate it not to fit.  Has anyone else had problems with the UniquePattern Co?  Also, should I take 1/2 inch on outside and inside leg seam? That would be about 2 inches on each side, correct?  I’ve been sewing on my least liked stash material so I don’t waste the better material, so sewing has become a chore for me lately.

There have been multiple discussions on Sewingworld.com about Unique Patterns.  Only a few have been pleased with their patterns.  Many have been dissatisfied.  They have been given numerous excuses.  Some women have fought to get their money back and gotten it.

I tried them before they did the scanning and got bigger.  Although I did not make the pattern up it appeared to be OK.

    Good luck,

Thank you so much for your enlightening information!  Before this new draft after 2 or 3 drafts, I said that I really thought I didn't want to try anymore, as it takes so long to get the patterns and then when they're wrong, it is forever before new ones.  I think they asked me to give them one more chance, and I said I would and then this top drafter was personally going to do it this time.  The blouse wasn't too bad, but really isn't perfect around shoulder, armhole, and underarm area. I am working on these capri's and just expected a very good fit, and they're enormous!  I am now taking them in a 1/2 on inside legs to knees, and each outside leg.  I'll have to see how crotch fits then.  Monday, I'm going to tell them to just forget it. I'm going to tell them I want my money back, althought they have redone mine quite a few times, Originally, they had to totally have someone else's measurements, because their bust said , "37.5, and I am 40 1/2.  The height said 5'2", and I am 5' 4 1/2",but I didn't realize that until last time. I paid $100.00 for the scan and they said a seminar, but we were scanning and ordering and I couldn't follow with the commotion going on, but will probably say the scan cost like $40 or something. Then I totally got carried away and ordered like 10 patterns, because I expected them to fit, and it took about 10 weeks to get my first ones. I have gotten a much better fit just using Kwik Sew before. Thanks again.
